I believe what you can do, u can take the possession only after registration. But if mahagun is giving you possession and option to get the registry after some time, then you can get the power of attorney made on name of some one you can trust and entitle that person to complete all the formalities on your behalf in your absence.

I needed an urgent advise from you. I booked a flat in Mahagun catania.

I am placed at Africa and coming on leave for 10 days to India. After
this I will be back only in Nov/Dec 12.

As per Mahagun authorities, they will not be able to give me both
possession and registration within those 10 days. I have paid all my
dues including the demand draft for the registration.

I would like to know as to which Option to choose out of the following options:-

Option I - I take the possession of the flat and get it registered in
Nov/Dec 12.
Option II - I do not take the possession as it may lead to damages of
the flat which Mahagun will not do good after possession.
Option III - Extend my leave (Next to impossible) for getting both
Possession and Registration.

Do let me know what to do as it bother my mind. If I have to get
additional leave, it will be leave without pay which you know is a
difficult situation.
