That's really scary indeed Soumen, but in most of the cases (as per driving patterns in India) the vehicle which overtakes the vehicle on it's side doesnt know if there could be anyone on the other side (as was your case). In my opinion (based on I've seen and followed), I keep on sounding horn/flashing when I know that the given intersection/place is a place where there is a risk, as people overtake when someone is driving slow (as the person may have to turn).
I would request all of those who may not follow all traffic rules, to please do it for your own safety and better life, that way other people might learn from driving and things could be better for everyone.
Speed barriers or at least some board stating "Caution" or something could be put to alert everyone.

Subject: [CROMA] Mahagun Gate Crossing
Dear All,
I wanted to share this information as I think it could prevent an
inevitable accident in near future.
Yesterday I was in Crossing for some work related to my house in Gaur.
While coming from the ABES engineering college I wanted to take a turn
near the Mahagun Gate crossing. While I was waiting to turn to my
horror a tractor coming from the opposite side overtook a car and
start coming straight towards me at a speed more than 60 kmph. I did
not had any space on my left side as there were vehicles going
straight towards shaberi.
The tractor bent like a snake to avoid a collision with me. For a
moment I thought the collision was inevitable. I was on my Maruti Zen,
God knows what would have happened if he had hit me with that speed. I
had my father (60 yrs old) sitting next me who was petrified.
The reason I am sharing this info is because it could have happened to
anyone. For those of you who travel daily on that road please be
careful while turning.
I would also like to request CROMA to see if we have any possibility
of asking the authorities to construct some speed barriers near the
Gates.
