[CROMA] CONSTRUCTION OF DUMPING GROUND ADJACENT TO DUNDHERA AND SHAHBERI VILLAGE

To,
Dr MKS Sundaram,
District Collector
Office of District Magistrate,
Ghaziabad.

Respected Sir,
This is to bring to your Notice that Ghaziabad Nagar Nigam (GNN) has started construction work of Solid Waste Treatment Plant (commonly known as dumping ground) at Dundahera Village just behind the ABES Engineering College, Delhi-Hapur By Pass Road, NH24, Ghaziabad. This dumping ground is at a distance of less than 200 meters from the Engineering College and 300 meteres from Shahberi Village. The Dundahera Village population is approximately 50,000+, while that of Shahberi Village is 10,000+. Further College has more than 1000 students and has residential facility as well.

In the past several objections were raised to the concerned authorities Ghaziabad Nagar Nigam (GNN) and Ghaziabad Development Authorities (GDA) on the proposed Dumping Ground. But despite all these objections, GNN has moved forward and illegally started the construction of Dumping Ground. They have not only overlooked the law that a dumping ground must have 500 meters of boundary on all sides from a educational or a residential area but have also ignored the fact that the matter is sub judice at Supreme Court level between GNN vs a reputed builder.
As you are aware that the residents of these villages have already sold of there lands to either GNOIDA or NOIDA or Builders and hence are now dependent upon shops or other small time bussiness that mainly thrives on local population. However if the on going construction of Dumping Ground is allowed to proceed villagers will be forced to vacate there present premises and be compelled to look for shelter else where. A thriving happyily settled village could be converted into a slum.
It is most humbly submitted that  presently villagers along with a local Residents Welfare Association (Crossings Republik) are trying all the peaceful and out of court solutions to prevent the mountain of garbage coming up adjacent to there residence. Mountain of garbage will leave villagers of the area fully exposed to all kind of pollution and diseases.
I would also like to bring to your attention that GNN has started construction without approval from Directorate of Environment. Thus it is clear that they do not have necessary approvals from state body and central ministry to go ahead with the construction.

I request you to kindly look into it ASAP and instruct the concerned to look in the above matter holistically rather than into some legal papers which can be made to argue in any direction.
Regards / Mohit
