Simultaneously we need to mark the copy of the mail to media as well.

Below is the mail I'd of the correspondent who recently reported Noida sector 123 dump yard.

vinod.rajput@hindustantimes.com

A mass mail to media too can bring in the desired attention to our cause.

Thanks to Mohit for showing the way, I have done after seeing his message on IREF and got link also from there only.

Content of message is taken from one objection letter available on CROMA yahoo group under file section.

In Individual capacity we all should file this objection and if any one is having the mail id of other concerned department so that mail can be sent there too. No. of mail should be so much that all the authority should be forced to look into this matter.

Tanvir from CROMA is already planning for sending mass mail to Mr. Akhilesh Yadav, CM.

Sub : Objection against construction of Solid Waste Management Plant at Dundahera, Ghaziabad in middle of Residential Area.

Dear Sir/Madam,

I am resident of Crossings Republik, Ghaziabad.

Ghaziabad Nagar Nigam is pushing a case in supreme court for construction of Solid Waste Management Plant in middle of 'habitation clusters'. The Proposed plant is surrounded by residential area as mentioned below.

1. There is one big township namely CROSSINGS REPUBLIK, within less than 100 ( Fifty )Meters of the boundary wall of the proposed site, approved by the competent authorities of Ghaziabad district, like Ghaziabad Development Authority and Ghaziabad Nagar Nigam where more 20,000 ( Twenty Thousand ) residential flats have already been built by more than 23 private builders and sold to public. More than 1,00,000 ( One Lac) people are going to occupy these flats in coming years. Approx. 5000 families is already living in these flats from last 2 years.

2 There is another township approved/licensed by the competent authorities of Ghaziabad District and being developed, namely ANSAL AQUAPOLIS. This township falls within '0' (Zero) Meters distance from the proposed site as the Boundary wall of the proposed landfill site and the township is same. This township is expected to have around 10,000 ( Ten thousand ) residential units and approximately 40,000 ( Sixty thousand)population.

3 There is a densely populated village namely, Shaberi & Chipiyana in Greater Noida within less than 100 (Hundred) meters of the boundary wall of the proposed landfill site.

4. There is a big educational institution (considered to be a place important cultural interest) namely, ABES Engineering College, within the 250 Meters of the proposed landfill site where more than 5000 students are studying and approximately half of them are staying in the college hostel, which is within the boundary wall of the College. The construction of the Landfill site near such a place of important cultural interest is prohibited under MSW rules. .

5. A buffer zone of non-development of 500 meters outside the boundary of the landfill site has not been maintained as specified in the Guidelines and Check List for evaluation for selction of SWMP site.

Due to close proximity of the Landfill site to the habitation cluster, there is risk from nuisance of odour, flies, rodents, bird menace and fire hazard, ground water quality etc.

Request the concerned authority to investigate the matter and give the guidance for shifting to some other location. GDA has already arranged the alternate land for this purpose at Galand.

Thanks and Regards,

Regards,

Manmohan Jha

I think we should also speak to the 'Go Green Welfare Association' to know how to take the matter forward, or, to obtain a copy of their petition to the NGT. this will help us draft our petition as well.

Subject: [CROMA] Green panel stays construction at Noida landfill site

Respected Members,

Can we approach Green tribunal on a high priority and request for stay on similar grounds??

Please advise.

Rgds,
NM

NOIDA: The National Green Tribunal has stayed construction activity on the landfill site in Sector 123 here after a commission appointed by it found that the project had been formulated without following the guidelines. The Noida Authority has also been restrained from carrying out digging or construction till the next hearing.

The principal bench of the tribunal headed by its chairman, Justice Swatanter Kumar, imposed the stay based on the local commissioner's report on the landfill's distance from human habitations. The Authority officials are yet to appear before the tribunal to clarify their stance despite getting court notices. The commission filed its report—TOI has a copy—with the tribunal on Tuesday.

The commission found that the Authority had started construction on the site without obtaining the mandatory approval from Uttar Pradesh Pollution Control Board (UPPCB). Habitations, including villages, residential sectors and ongoing housing projects, were found to be in proximity to the site on all sides in clear violation of the norms.

A petition had been filed by Go Green Welfare Association, a Noida-based organization of residents and homebuyers. Advocate Sumeer Sodhi had been appointed as commissioner by the tribunal. The report was prepared after Sodhi inspected the site on May 25 in the presence of senior Authority officials, including project engineers and the health department officials, UPPCB officials and representatives of the residents' association.
The petitioners had alleged that the site chosen was amid habitations, which is in violation of the Municipal Solid Waste (Management Handling) Rules, 2000. A landfill cannot be near a residential cluster, a state highway or a river.
