I experienced the same last Diwali in my neighbor's house but luckily the equipments were changed a day before in lieu of the diwali festival. Most equipments have a meter and the CO2 pressure can be seen with the expiry date.
As a precautionary measure we should see them every month, so that in case of such unforeseen circumstances we can be sure of the fact that they are in the working condition.
