Re: [CROMA] The Times of India: Local commissioner for Noida landfill site

I believe, if CROMA unites with Go Green Welfare Association, it would help both the bodies in their fight...

NOIDA: The National Green Tribunal appointed alocal commissioner on Tuesday to pinpoint the location of the landfill site in Sector 123, as well as its distance from habitations, including villages.

The tribunal appointed the commissioner after an application was filed by Go Green Welfare Association, a body of residents and buyers of residential properties in Sector 121 and adjoining sectors. The association alleged that creating a landfill in Sector 123 would adversely affect the health of residents living nearby apart from damaging the local environment.

Sameer Sodhi, an advocate, has been appointed and told to visit the site. He has to submit a report to the tribunal by July 2.

As per the petition, the Noida Authority has gone ahead with the proposal for the landfill site by choosing to remain oblivious to the plight of residents living in close proximity for the past several years and those who would be shifting to the new townships coming up in the nearby areas.

Check out this story that I found in the TOI BlackBerry app:

There is another Dumping Ground proposed at Sec 123 which is some 5 KM away from Crossings  if we travel towards Noida City Centre.

Thx
